There’s something about Dungeons and Dragons that just captures the imagination. Maybe it’s the fact that you get to play a character in a completely different world, with its own rules and lore. Or maybe it’s the sense of camaraderie that comes from sitting around a table with friends, all working together to defeat a common foe. Whatever the reason, there’s no denying that D&D is one of the most popular RPGs out there.
If you’re new to the game, here’s a quick rundown. You create a character, choosing their race (dwarf, elf, halfling, etc.), class (wizard, fighter, rogue, etc.), and background (outlander, sailor, soldier, etc.). You then work your way through various adventures – fighting monsters, solving puzzles, and completing quests – with the goal of levelling up your character and becoming stronger. The game is typically played with four or five players plus a Dungeon Master (DM), who controls the non-player characters (NPCs) and oversees the game.
One of the things that makes D&D so great is that there are endless possibilities for what your character can be and do. Want to be an old bald bluebeard dwarf cleric? Go for it!
