There she stands, an elderly woman with striking blue eyes and a shock of white hair. She is bald, but her face is kindly and gentle. She is dressed in a simple green robe, and carries a staff in one hand. In the other hand, she holds a small wooden box.

This is the dungeon master, or “DM” for short. She is the one who guides the players through their adventure in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. The DM determines what happens in the game, based on the choices the players make.

The DM can be any kind of person, male or female, young or old. But they all have one thing in common: they love to tell stories. And that’s what makes them such great DMs.
